Re-training & Re-skilling of workers for the Construction Industry
What is this project about?
This consists of training courses designed to provide trainees with skills required for the expanding building and construction industry. The courses include also entrepreneurship, self-employment and technology skills. This sector is becoming a competitive and highly technologically-driven environment. This training programme is specifically designed to target the unemployed from the building and construction sector and provide them with new and transferable skills required for the building and construction industry.
On completion of the course successful trainees will be given an internationally recognized qualification.
Who will benefit?
Unemployed, women, youth, people with disabilities, people over 40’s, semi- skilled/unskilled workers, single parents, people returning to the labour market.

How is the project progressing?
15 students graduated in June 2006. Presently there are 61 students undergoing training in Scaffolding and Rigging, Stone Masonry Skills, Plastering and Tile Laying, or Painting and Decorating. These courses have been aimed at those persons who are either already working in the building industry or else those who would like to start a new career in this sector.
