Re-training & Re-skilling of workers for the Electronics Industry
What is this project about?
This project provides trainees with flexible and transferable skills required within a knowledge-based economy. Places are reserved for females wishing to find employment within this sector. It provides candidates with new, flexible skills in the electronics, mechatronics and modern technology industrial techniques. The courses cater for entrepreneurship, self-employment, IT and customer services. On completion of the course successful trainees will be given an internationally recognized qualification.
Who will benefit?
Unemployed, women, youth, people with disabilities, people over 40’s, semi-skilled/unskilled workers, single parents, people returning to the labour market.

How is the project progressing?
14 students graduated in June 2006. Presently, there are three courses ongoing - ranging from Electronics Fundamentals and Computer Hardware; Electronics and Programmable Logic Controllers; and Industrial Electronics, Microelectronics and Automation. These new ESF courses have been especially formulated for those either wishing to start a new career or wish to upgrade their qualifications to adapt themselves to an ever-changing working environment. A basic knowlege of Electronics, English and Maths were a prerequisite for these courses.
