MCAST is implementing a project intended to re-skill and advance the workforce in traditional Maltese crafts. The project targets mature students and it enables progression thus facilitating life-long learning. The project also provides candidates with flexible skills and entrepreneurial skills that encourage self- employment within the traditional crafts sector, including Pottery, Silver Filigree, Bee Keeping, Traditional Lace Making, and Stained Glass.
Who will benefit?
Unemployed, women, youth, people with disabilities, people over 40’s, semi- skilled/unskilled workers, single parents, people returning to the labour market.

How is the project progressing?
In June 2006, 39 students graduated in Pottery (Beginners) and Silver Filigree (Beginners) courses. At present, there are 165 students undergoing training in various subjects. Besides the Pottery and Silver Filigree courses, the ESF new courses include Bee Keeping, Stained Glass, and Lace Making. These courses are aimed at reviving Traditional Maltese crafts.
