Technology Skills for women returning to the workforce
What is this project about?
This project aims at encouraging, preparing and training more female participation in the labour force. MCAST makes it a point to reserve places for single parents thus promoting equal opportunities. It aims at mature candidates and allows for progression thus facilitating life-long learning. The project provides training courses designed to provide women returnees with qualifications in IT and customer service. Entrepreneurship is also included as part of the courses. On completion of the course successful trainees will be given an internationally recognized qualification.
Who will benefit?
Unemployed, women, youth, people with disabilities, people over 40’s, semi-skilled/unskilled workers, single parents, people returning to the labour market.

How is the project progressing?
In January 2006, a call for applicants in Employability Skills for Women Returning to the Workforce was issued. A total of 126 applications were received. Out of the 48 persons in the waiting list from last year’s course, a total of 32 confirmed their intention to commence the course. A total of 70 women graduated in June 2006. Presently there are two courses ongoing - one concentrating on Accounts - Accounting Technician Certificate (Foundation Stage) and the other is the Employability Skills for Women Returning to the Workforce. There are 146 students presently undergoing training.
